Snap is bringing dynamic product advertising into Sponsored Snaps, placing catalogue-driven commerce inside Chat rather than limiting it to public content surfaces. The move is especially relevant in Saudi Arabia, where Snapchat is frequently part of everyday communication and where retail, beauty, automotive and food brands already invest heavily in the platform.
The important shift is operational. When a platform automatically selects products for an individual, campaign performance depends on the accuracy of the catalogue and conversion data as much as the visual asset.
How the product system works
Snap's official Dynamic Ads guide explains that advertisers upload a product catalogue and connect behavioural signals through the Snap Pixel or a supported measurement partner. The system can then build and serve ads using current product information.
Snap's official Sponsored Snaps documentation says these placements appear in Chat without a push notification, and recipients choose whether to open them. The new combination allows product selection to enter a personal, high-frequency surface while preserving that voluntary opening behaviour.
The development was surfaced by Social Media Today on 10 September 2026. Snap's own documentation is the primary basis for the mechanics described here.
Why catalogue operations become part of creative strategy
A compelling message cannot rescue an unavailable product, an incorrect price or a broken landing page. Retail teams need consistent product IDs, current stock, Arabic descriptions, accurate deep links and reliable purchase events. Marketing, e-commerce and merchandising therefore have to operate from the same data.
The placement may also intensify the need for restraint. Chat feels more personal than a public feed. Frequency, relevance and clear brand identification will influence whether users experience the message as useful discovery or unwanted interruption.
A Saudi test plan
Start with a narrow category that has stable inventory and healthy margins. Compare Sponsored Snaps using dynamic products with a conventional campaign, and include a geographic or audience holdout where possible. Track new-customer revenue, completed orders, returns and contribution margin—not attributed clicks alone.
Karim's strategic takeaway
Sponsored Snaps should be treated as a commerce product, not simply another ad format. The defensible advantage comes from the operating layer behind the creative: catalogue governance, first-party signals, Arabic merchandising and fulfilment. Brands that repair those systems before scaling media will learn faster and waste less demand.
