SAL Logistics Services and Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding covering transportation, logistics and digital transformation. The companies will explore 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and green-energy technologies for logistics zones, alongside a possible inventory and distribution hub.

Why the operating layer matters

Logistics technology creates value when it changes a physical decision: where inventory sits, which shipment moves first, how quickly a delay is detected and how energy is used. A connected zone can combine equipment, warehouse and transport signals, but the commercial return depends on clean operational data and teams empowered to act on it.

Saudi retailers, manufacturers and service companies should treat the development as a prompt to map their visibility gaps. Measuring on-time delivery, exception resolution, inventory accuracy and cost per fulfilled order is more useful than tracking the number of connected devices.
