Instagram added an in-app promotion route for eligible Live broadcasts, reported on 30 September by Social Media Today. Meta’s official Korean newsroom separately announced Instagram Live ads in Korea on the same date. Marketers could already promote upcoming live events through Ads Manager; the in-app control mainly shortens setup. Account and market eligibility must be checked before relying on it.
The mechanism behind a paid live event
A live event brings audience questions and the host’s answers together in real time. Paying to extend reach only makes sense when the audience is relevant and a clear next action exists. A low-cost viewer who leaves immediately has little value. The host, moderator, topic, call to action and follow-up process matter as much as the boost itself.
A test built around qualified response
Schedule one 20-minute session on a narrow topic and publish a clear agenda beforehand. Invite an expert, assign a moderator to collect recurring questions, and create a dedicated booking or enquiry link with tracking parameters. Compare an organic-only session with a later paid session of similar topic and duration. Measure live watch time, substantive questions, qualified messages, booked consultations and attended appointments. Set a spending cap and stop the test if the cost per attended appointment is worse than the existing acquisition channel.
Healthcare and regional guardrails
For clinics, keep advice educational rather than diagnosing individual viewers in public comments. Review claims and consent, avoid patient-identifiable examples, and prepare moderation in Arabic and English when the audience requires both. Confirm that the promotion feature is actually enabled for the account and country.
Karim’s strategic takeaway
The easiest live boost is useful only when it feeds a credible, measurable consultation path. Build the event and follow-up first; buy incremental distribution after the organic format proves that people stay, ask and act.
