Google has expanded its advertising measurement suite to make first-party data easier to connect, diagnose and value. Data Manager is being integrated directly into Google Analytics and Display & Video 360, while its API is now broadly available using the IAB Tech Lab's Event and Conversions API standard.
The company also introduced built-in diagnostics that identify data problems before they affect performance and a Data Strength Uplift Metric designed to estimate additional conversions recovered through first-party data. These changes shift measurement from a reporting task toward an operating system for campaign decisions.
What Google announced
Alongside the Data Manager changes, Google is adding agentic capabilities to Meridian, its open-source marketing mix model. The tools can help audit data quality, resolve errors and guide model building. Meridian can also include brand signals, such as branded search volume, and its GeoX causal experimentation library is now generally available globally.
Google says advertisers that connect offline and app data to Data Manager see an average 26% increase in incremental return on ad spend. That figure comes from Google's global internal data and should be treated as a benchmark, not a guaranteed result for every advertiser or market.
Why this matters in Saudi Arabia and the GCC
Many advertisers still optimize toward form submissions or messaging starts because those events are easy to collect. But the cheapest enquiry may never answer a call, attend an appointment or complete a purchase. Better data allows platforms to learn from outcomes that actually create value.
For clinics and high-consideration services, the useful signal chain is advertisement, qualified contact, appointment, attendance, treatment and revenue. Retailers may connect product margin, repeat purchase and return behavior. The measurement design should reflect the business model rather than the platform's default event.
A practical implementation sequence
- Agree on a small set of commercial outcome definitions across marketing, sales and finance.
- Improve consent, identifiers and CRM discipline before sending more data.
- Connect offline and app outcomes through Data Manager or a compatible API.
- Use diagnostics to fix missing or inconsistent events.
- Validate reported uplift with holdouts, geo experiments or another causal method.

Karim's strategic takeaway
First-party data becomes valuable when it improves a decision. For Karim's healthcare and growth work, the priority is to feed verified bookings, attendance and revenue back into measurement—not to collect a larger database with no operating loop.
