Point-of-care media is expanding as clinics add digital screens and educational content to waiting rooms and consultation environments. AdExchanger highlighted PatientPoint, a US network operating 145,000 screens across 32,000 doctors' offices, as evidence that healthcare environments are becoming an advertising surface.

Proximity raises the standard

Being close to a care decision can make information useful, but it also increases responsibility. Medical organizations must separate patient education from promotion, avoid exploiting anxiety and ensure claims are accurate and appropriate for the setting.

Measurement should go beyond screen impressions. Useful indicators include content completion, appointment preparation, approved service enquiries and whether patients understand the next step. Any connection to clinical or personal data requires strict consent, access controls and local regulatory review.

Karim's strategic takeaway

A clinic is not simply another media venue. Point-of-care communication earns value when it improves understanding and navigation while protecting patient trust.
